This article presents the main measures and their impacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Labor Law<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Increase in the Minimum Wage (SMIC)<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>As of January 1, 2026, the statutory minimum wage (SMIC \u2013 <em>salaire minimum interprofessionnel de croissance<\/em>) is being increased.<br>The gross hourly rate is raised to <strong>\u20ac12.02<\/strong>, compared with <strong>\u20ac11.88<\/strong> since November 2024.<br>Based on full-time employment, the gross monthly SMIC now amounts to <strong>\u20ac1,823.03<\/strong>, compared with <strong>\u20ac1,801.80<\/strong> previously, representing an increase of <strong>\u20ac21.23 gross per month<\/strong>.<br>The corresponding net monthly SMIC is estimated at <strong>\u20ac1,443.11<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Increase in Intern Allowances<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>The minimum allowance paid to interns is also being increased.<br>As of 2026, the hourly amount rises from <strong>\u20ac4.35 to \u20ac4.50<\/strong>, corresponding to <strong>15% of the hourly Social Security ceiling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Creation of a Fixed-Term Contract for Career Transition<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>As of January 1, 2026, the French Labor Code introduces a new ground for using a fixed-term contract (CDD), applicable in the context of an employee\u2019s professional career transition period (Article L. 1242-3, 5\u00b0 of the Labor Code).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This measure aims to secure career paths by facilitating continued employment\u2014particularly for employees nearing the end of their careers\u2014while supporting professional retraining, skills development, and career mobility initiatives.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Social Protection<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Creation of a Birth Leave<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>A new type of leave linked to the arrival of a child is being introduced for the benefit of both parents. Each parent may take <strong>one or two additional months of leave<\/strong> (at the parent\u2019s choice), <strong>paid by the Social Security system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>This leave is added to existing maternity and paternity leave and <strong>does not replace parental leave<\/strong>.<br>Subject to any future amendments, this leave will be available <strong>from July 1, 2026<\/strong>, for any child <strong>born on or after January 1, 2026<\/strong>, including cases where the child is born prematurely even though the expected birth date was on or after that date.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Assistance for Business Creation or Takeover<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>The <strong>ACRE<\/strong> scheme, which allows business creators and buyers to benefit from a partial exemption from social security contributions, is also being amended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of January 2026, the exemption of social security contributions on income below <strong>75% of the annual Social Security ceiling (PASS)<\/strong> (i.e. <strong>\u20ac36,045 or less<\/strong>) will <strong>no longer be total<\/strong>. In addition, the level of exemption is expected to be <strong>reduced<\/strong>, with the exact details to be specified by decree.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Family Benefits<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>The official French public service website indicates that <strong>family benefits are expected to be revalued during 2026<\/strong>, with indexation to inflation (the measure freezing social benefits for 2026 having been withdrawn).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, in the absence of a law that has been definitively adopted and published, this information <strong>cannot yet be considered legally binding<\/strong> and remains subject to change.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Revaluation of Basic State Pensions<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>Basic retirement pensions under the <strong>general scheme<\/strong>, the <strong>civil service<\/strong>, and <strong>special schemes<\/strong> will increase by <strong>0.9% as of January 1, 2026<\/strong>.<br>This increase will apply to both <strong>direct pensions<\/strong> and <strong>survivor\u2019s pensions<\/strong>, and will take effect for payments made in respect of <strong>January 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Revaluation of the Survivor\u2019s Allowance<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>The survivor\u2019s allowance (<em>allocation veuvage<\/em>) is increased to <strong>\u20ac719.58 per month<\/strong>, with a <strong>quarterly income ceiling of \u20ac2,968.42<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Revaluation of the Solidarity Allowance for Older People (ASPA)<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>The monthly resource ceiling guaranteed by the <strong>ASPA<\/strong> is now set at <strong>\u20ac1,043.59<\/strong> for a single person and <strong>\u20ac1,620.18<\/strong> for a couple.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Transitional Measures on the Legal Retirement Age for the 1964\u20131968 Cohorts<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>A transitional scheme is planned until <strong>January 2028<\/strong> to temporarily suspend the timetable for increasing the legal retirement age and the required insurance period, as provided for by the <strong>2023 pension reform<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Insured persons born between <strong>1964 and 1968<\/strong> will see their retirement conditions modified and may benefit from <strong>slightly earlier entitlement<\/strong> compared with the initially planned schedule. These new rules will apply to pensions taking effect <strong>from September 1, 2026<\/strong>.<br>For example, individuals born in <strong>1964<\/strong> will be able to retire at <strong>62 years and 9 months<\/strong>, instead of <strong>63 years<\/strong>. Detailed arrangements will be set out by decree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The insurance period required to qualify for a <strong>full-rate pension<\/strong> is also adjusted for these cohorts: it is reduced by <strong>one quarter<\/strong> for insured persons born in <strong>1964<\/strong> (170 quarters instead of 171) and <strong>1965<\/strong> (171 instead of 172).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Insured persons born from <strong>1969 onwards<\/strong> remain subject to a legal retirement age of <strong>64<\/strong>. The threshold of <strong>172 quarters<\/strong> remains unchanged.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Increase in Social Contributions on Capital Income<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>The law of <strong>December 30, 2025<\/strong> provides for an increase in a portion of the <strong>CSG<\/strong> on financial income for 2025 and 2026, which is expected to rise from <strong>9.2% to 10.6%<\/strong>.<br>Income from <strong>real estate rentals and capital gains<\/strong>, <strong>life insurance contracts<\/strong>, <strong>housing savings plans and contracts<\/strong>, and <strong>popular savings plans (PEP)<\/strong> will not be affected by this change. The applicable rules are expected to be clarified shortly by the tax authorities.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Sick Leave<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>The <strong>2026 Social Security Financing Bill (PLFSS)<\/strong> provides for a limitation on the duration of sick leave:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Initial prescription of sick leave:<\/strong> limited to <strong>1 month<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Extension of sick leave:<\/strong> limited to <strong>2 months<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill provides that physicians may <strong>depart from these limits<\/strong>, in particular where they justify on the prescription the need for a longer duration in light of the patient\u2019s situation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 2026, French law is evolving, particularly in labor law and social protection.
